DHL Brand Wall Design
Chicago, IL

When DHL opened a new Express Service Point in the heart of the Chicago Loop—only their second full-service shipping center in the U.S. and their first in Chicago—I was commissioned to create a large-scale brand image for the store’s lobby. The brief was simple: represent the DHL brand while celebrating their growing connection to the city. As a Chicago-based designer at the time, I was excited to translate local pride through a DHL lens.

Chicagoans are fiercely loyal to their city, and the iconic Chicago flag felt like an obvious visual anchor. To ground the composition, I chose another symbol beloved by locals and tourists alike—Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate (aka “The Bean”). The sculpture’s mirrored surface provided the perfect opportunity to reflect Chicago’s famous skyline, including heavy-hitters like Willis Tower. To round out the scene, I added a few skyscrapers bordering Millennium Park and—of course—DHL delivery vehicles: trucks, vans, even planes overhead, all reinforcing the brand’s global reach and reliability.

The final piece balances local identity with international logistics muscle, and I’m proud to say it’s still on display today. If you’re in the Loop, swing by and take a look!
